Step off the beaten track and into one of NSW’s most unique social experiences. Nestled in the heart of the Grawin Opal Field, 70km NW of Walgett, The Club in the Scrub has been the heartbeat of the community since 1976.

Open 7 days a week from 10am until late, the Club is a place to relax, celebrate, and connect. Enjoy:

  • Delicious food and cold drinks
  • Live entertainment and regular community events
  • Sporting competitions, raffles, and fun activities for all

What makes us truly special? No pokies, keno, or TAB – The Club thrives on community spirit, volunteer efforts, and the generosity of its members. Every visit supports a local tradition built entirely by hands-on volunteers, using durable cypress pine to withstand the harsh outback environment.

The Club’s story is as legendary as its location: it began when local miners and their families banded together in protest in the mid-1970s – refusing to let soaring beer prices dampen their spirits. It became a registered club in 1990 and has been a proud gathering spot ever since.

Whether you’re stopping by to meet local opal miners, catch up with friends, or simply soak in the outback charm, The Club in the Scrub promises a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t forget.
